In the last 3 days (3-5 December 2010) I have attended in a Model United Nations, held in Iași, Romania. In my quality of the honorable delegate of Norway in the Eco-Soc Committee (that is economic and social) I have had an amazing experience. Having studied the procedures and the three topics in Eco-Soc( fair trade in Sub Saharan countries, measures for banks to implement in the future and food crisis in the Third World countries) for more than six weeks, I understood with a great satisfaction that the work was not in vain.
Wonderful delegates, great Chairs, they all struggled to have the best points of view, the best for or against speeches, in order to sustain their country’s position and to gain trust of the other State Members to vote for their resolution or amendment. Everything was formal, very professional, and every single student took his job seriously.
A thing that I have enjoyed the most was the question raised by the China’s delegate who seemed to be upset and annoyed by it:” Why the State Members do not want to borrow money from China in the banks situation, and continuously want USA’s help, when they were the ones that got ourselves into the economical crisis?”
I was very excited about this Conference and I can hardly wait to take part in another MUN. According to the fact that this models of United Nations take place all over the World, who knows where the next MUN will bring me?
Hoping to see again wonderful delegates of the Member States in such a simulation, the delegate of Norway rests her case and decides to remain actively seized on this matter.
